William Vansant Bill Steed Kilpatrick Funeral Home Ruston, LA. Funeral services for William Vansant Bill Steed, age 80, of Ruston, will be held on Friday, May 4, 2007 at 10:00 AM at Trinity United Methodist Church. Rev. Rolly Walker and Rev. Fred Wideman will be officiating with burial to follow at Pines Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston, LA. Mr. Steed was born December 24, 1926 in Atlanta GA. and passed away May 1, 2007 in Ruston, LA. Mr. Steed was a graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy where he was licensed in Marine Engineering. He was a lieutenant in the United States Navy where he served his country in World War II and the Korean War. After the war, Bill graduated from Georgia Tech in Industrial Engineering. Bill was associated with the Naval Reserve Unit at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston for many years. Mr. Steed and his family transferred to Ruston in 1965 where he worked in the pulp and paper industry for many years before retiring from Ingersoll Rand in 1990. Bill was an avid golfer and loved spending time with all of his family and friends. He will truly be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by wife Joanna Holeman Steed; children: William Vansant Steed, Jr. and wife Kathy of Ruston; Douglas Alan Steed and wife Lynda of Ruston, Nancy McIntyre and husband Bill of Ruston, Janice Melancon and husband Curtis of Benton, John Blake Steed and wife Laura of Bossier City, grandchildren: Shannon Catherine Steed of Wilmore, KY., Emily Lauren Steed of Ruston, William Callier Steed of Dallas TX., Matthew Thomas Steed of Ruston, Daniel James Steed of Ruston, Anna Margaret Melancon of Benton, Joanna Kathryn McIntyre of Ruston, William Andrew McIntyre of Ruston, Kyle Blake Steed, Claire Elizabeth Steed and Ryan Jackson Steed all of Bossier City, LA. Pallbearers will be Will Steed, Matt Steed, Daniel Steed, Andy McIntyre, Bart Dugdale, Kyle Steed, Ken Hardy, Sam Hardy, and Kris Hardy. Honorary pallbearers will be Tika Ranjitkar, Charles Fuller, Bill Porter, George Dupuis, Ray Sterling, John Hammett, Charles Hoffman, Jerry Bond, Neil Moon, George Cole, Curtis McCrary, Judge Sullivan, Billy Belding, and James Mays Visitation will be Thursday, May 3, 2007 from 5 -7 PM in the Fellowship Hall at Trinity United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, the Methodist Children's Home, Temple Baptist Church, or the charity of the donor's choice.
