Tribute to Tex

Carrying on a Legacy

Tex Kilpatrick was a gentle giant of a man — and the heart and soul of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes for decades. He was a fixture in our community, and his integrity and generosity are legendary.

Not everyone knows this, but 20-year-old Tex had an acceptance letter to LSU medical school in his hand when he made the decision to take the reins of the family business, because his father was unable to run the funeral home after a severe stroke. That was just the kind of man Tex was.

Tex, along with his wife of 60 years, Carole, touched so many lives through their work here. Tex truly viewed funeral service as a calling, not a job, and we continue his legacy today. You’ll see echoes of Tex in everything we do here at Kilpatrick Funeral Homes. But mostly you’ll find him in our commitment to offering excellent service and to providing the most compassionate, loving care to the families who come to us. It’s our mission . . . and our ministry.
