Funeral Services for William Marvin Spillers, 87, of West Monroe are Monday, July 18, 2011 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe, with Reverend Joel Dykes officiating. Interment follows at Beulah Cemetery in Calhoun under the direction of the Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe. Born August 26, 1923, he passed away Friday, July 15, 2011, in West Monroe. He was a retired heavy equipment operator for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and the City of West Monroe, a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, and a member of Life Church. Marvin was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved tending to his laying hens and raising hunting Beagles making many friendships over the years sharing fresh eggs and buying and selling hunting dogs. Marvin delighted in sharing with others. Mr. Spillers was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Helen Lewis Spillers; daughter Mary Beth Spillers; parents, Andy and Essie Spillers; sisters Erma Lee Pesnell and Jearline Whitman; brothers Edwin Spillers, Clifford Spillers, Orville Spillers, Prentiss Spillers, Ocie Spillers, and Lamoin Spillers. He is survived by three daughters, Barbara Haisty Bobby, Pat Barnett, and Brenda Williford Mark; grandchildren, Sherry Baugh Terry, Ray Barnett Kim, Cindy Bordelon Hector, Cathy Walters Jonathan, Mandy Worthey Rick and Cory Black; great grandchildren, Logan and Jordan Baugh, Brooke and Cameron Barnett, Nora and Gracie Gill, Timothy McVay, Emily, Hallie and Wyatt Worthey, and Anna Juliet Walters; and sister, Dot Pesnell. Pallbearers are Logan Baugh, Jordan Baugh, Timothy McVay, Barry Pesnell, Lenard Ward, and Randy Lewis. The family expresses special thanks to the Landmark Nursing Home of West Monroe for their faithful, consistent, and compassionate care of our father. Our dad's hospice nurse, Daphne Hospice Compassus was outstanding. She provided comfort to our father and the entire family with empathy and professionalism.
