Dear Wanda and family, So sorry to hear about your dad. Frances told me and I was reminded of how we felt when Daddy passed away in 2004. Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. We are fortunate to have had great parents and wonderful memories. Linda Dowling Gilley

Uncle Cecil and Aunt Alice lived a wonderful example of the fruit of God's Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Uncle Cecil will be remembered with great love and admiration.

I could not say it any better than cousin Brenda did about our "growing up' years. Uncle Cecil was my Fathers brother, older by 3 years. When my Father Sanford Davis passed away 18 years ago many of my friends in attendance thought Uncle Cecil must have been his twin they looked so much alike. In a large family of kind, gentle loving people Uncle Cecil stood out to me as the kindest and gentlest of the family. Like Brenda I can close my eyes and hear the voices from under that old oak tree, voices from 45+ years ago that still bring a smile to my face as I remember. Aunt Alice, Wanda and family though the years may have separated us physically the memories of you and Uncle Cecil are forever with me. May God give you the strength to go through the rough times we face when we loose a loved one and be ever mindful that we that know Christ as our Savior will be reunited again for eternity.
Brenda Davis Pangburn left a message on August 5, 2010:
What wonderful memories I have of Uncle Cecil. He was the most gentle, gentile man I believe I have ever known. I can still hear, in my memory bank, his laugh and his voice even afer many years of not having direct contact with him. He was my dad's younger brother;my dad died in 1967 at the age of 51. I can still picture gatherings at Grandma's house where all the men would sit out under the big oak trees and all the women would be in the house. Of course, all of us kids would be in and out of the house and running and playing out in the yard -- really all over Grandma's property. Over the years, I have missed those extended family times and have been reminded often of how special they were. Those occasions are where most of my memories of Uncle Cecil come from. To Aunt Alice and Wanda and her family, my prayers for comfort and peace continue for you. May God's grace and mercy be enough for you in the days and weeks ahead. I am so glad God prompted me to reconnect recently with you, Wanda. Love, Brenda
