WILLIAM (BilL) HANKS left a message on November 24, 2024:
To Mrs. Jones and all the Jones Family, Please accept our condolences for the passing of Mr. Jones. Mr. and Mrs. Jones were quite a positive influence on my early years in your home, in the Valley, and the woods of Glendale which were Ben and my home during our childhood. Many great memories of all kinds sports competition while we learned life lessons of fair competition, winning/losing, and just plain having fun!! I was able to message Ben and Bill as I had there phone numbers, and simply wanted to offer our condolences and thanks to all Jones for being such great life long friends and allowing us to grow and develop in such a great family friendly and caring neighborhood environment! Best to all. Bill Hanks

What a horrific loss to all of your family and to all of those who knew and loved Uncle Dub. He and Aunt Schump had a remarkable marriage and life and all of the children and grands and great-grands are lucky to have them for family. I, as a step- family member, loved them a great deal and always enjoyed visiting when I was in Ruston. I hope that his loss is overridden by the wonderful memories that all of you share with him and your Mother. Love to all, Barbara & Mike (Carroll's daughter).

Hasson - I want to express my sincere condolences on the death of your father. I don't know if you remember me but I worked in the dining hall at Hiram College during the Browns training camps in the early to mid 60's. My sister Judy, and I are about your age and we did some things together when you and your family were there. I actually don't remember what we did. I just remember that we loved working for the Browns and have many fond memories from that time. Also, my dad, Bill Hollinger was athletic director at the college and also worked for the Browns when they were there. Jan

My Dad Thomas Mitchell managed the Ruston Weaks Supply store in Ruston La. While I was competing against Bert Jones (Ruston HS ) while attending West Monroe HS he always commented that Dub Jones was the best business owner he dealt with. My Dad was not the first to compliment but for Mr. Jones he praised often.

I am sorry to hear about Dub passing. He was a great man, who live a good life. A prime example of how a man should raise a family. The Campbells and the Jones families have been friends for over 100 years and a lot of the times they worked and played together in Castor where both my great grandparents and his grandparents lived. I served in the state Senate with Bill Jones and we often spoke of his great grandparents in Castor. My father and Dub were both avid bird hunters and had many bird dogs through our lives.
Marilyn John Sheaffer left a message on November 4, 2024:
To the family of Dub Jones, I know that my mom Nelda Fowler John who has passed on would want me to send condolences to your family since she went to school and knew Dub; and I went to school with his son Bill starting in fifth grade and had a lot of respect for Bill and his family, so I too want to send my sympathy to all of you. It is hard to know what to say at a time like this except that my thoughts and prayers are with all of you. It's hard to lose a husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend, or just an acquaintance no matter what the circumstance may be. Hopefully that knowing that he did what he loved doing and was successful, that he loved his family, and that the most important is that he loved GOD should be comforting to all of us. For all that knew him, a part of you will always be missing; but GOD will heal the sadness and each will find joy in having him be a part of our life. He was a good and kind man and well respected. Now we must live in the same way to shine his light. May GOD wrap HIS LOVE around each of you today and through the days ahead. Please know that although I live in Pittsburgh, Pa., my heartfelt love and sympathy are sent to you. Love and Prayers Marilyn John Sheaffer
