Wilber Hopkins Rainey Jr. Kilpatrick Funeral Home Ruston, LA RUSTON, LA – Wilber Hopkins Rainey Jr. passed away at his home on December 2, 2010 in Ruston, Louisiana following his lengthy, courageous battle with cancer. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 5, 2010 at Temple Baptist Church. Officiating will be Dr. Rick Byargeon, Senior Pastor. Interment will be at Pines Memorial Gardens, Ruston, LA immediately following the services. The family will be receiving guests for visitation at Temple Baptist Church, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Saturday, December 4, 2010. Wilber was born on March 14, 1953 in Clarksdale, Mississippi to Wilber Hopkins and Nell Hanks Rainey. Wilber grew up in Rich, Mississippi assisting his father in farming operations. He graduated from high school in 1971 and continued his education at Delta State University and Mississippi State University. Wilber began his career in the oil and gas industry in Lafayette, Louisiana and ended it as Executive Vice-President and Board Member of Aeon PEC formerly known as Halgo PEC. An expert in process equipment, controls, and safety devices, Wilber was also a Scuba Diver, Airplane Pilot, Harley Rider, avid Hunter, and a story-telling humorist who lived life to the fullest and never had any regrets. Refusing to accept the bleak picture his doctors painted, his love of life and determination to make every day count kept him with us long after the doctors thought it possible. Wilber was a member of Temple Baptist Church and especially enjoyed his Bible study class. He was preceded in death by his father. Left to cherish memories of him are his beloved wife, Janice; daughters, Camille Rainey and Lauren Rainey; mother, Nell Rainey of Rich, MS; sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Scott Manning of Seattle, WA; twin sister, Rebecca Bell of Tampa, FL; sister Mary Knott of Rich, MS; niece, Rebecca Manning; nephews, Andrew Bell and Christopher Knott, and hundreds of friends. No one who ever met him will ever forget him. Honoring Wilber as pallbearers will be Keith Bagwell, Steve Carpenter, Ken Mathews, Gary Oliver, Gary Rainey and Mark Smith.
