Wanda Garner Atkins Kilpatrick Funeral Home Ruston, LA Funeral services for Wanda Garner Atkins, age 81, of Ruston will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. Officiating the service will be Dr. Michael Hawley. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Ruston under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. Mrs. Atkins was born July 20, 1929 and passed away September 19, 2010 following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Atkins retired from Lincoln General Hospital after forty two years of service. She was an graduate of Weston High School and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. She is survived by son: Felix Jay Atkins and wife Brenda of Ruston; granddaughter: Mary Beth Atkins of Alexandra; grandsons: Joseph Cordaro and wife Jill of Shreveport, Christopher Cordaro II and wife Jesselynn of New Orleans and Nicholas Cordaro of Washington D.C.; brothers: Jackie Garner and wife Shirley of McKinney, TX; and Jerry Garner and wife Bernice of Monroe; brother-in-law; Harold Atkins and wife Norma of Ruston; sister-in-law: Toni Colvin of Shreveport;; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Christopher Cordaro, II, John Overman, Michael Colvin, Kem Alexander , John Ed Colvin, Jr, and. Roy Nelson. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Professional Hospice Care and the nurses and staff of the Ruston Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the loving care provided during this most difficult time.
