Funeral services for Mr. Wallace D. ¨Lucky Counselman, Sr. will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday, August 14, 2010 in the Chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes of Monroe on Lamy Lane. Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Friday, August 13, 2010, at Kilpatrick Funeral Homes of Monroe on Lamy Lane. Interment services will follow on Tuesday, August 17, 2010, at 1:15 P.M. at the Natchez National Military Cemetery in Natchez, MS with full military honors under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes of Monroe. Lucky passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2010, doing what he loved playing golf. He was born in Coffeville, Alabama on February 24, 1921. He married his sweetheart, Yvonne, on December 1, 1940, and the two of them traveled the world during his career in the U. S. Air Force until he retired as a Lt. Col in 1971. Afterwards, he went back to work in the service as a civilian working to manage the Air Force Commissary Services. He retired from the civil service in 1986 while living in San Antonio, Texas. In October of 1998, he and Yvonne moved to Monroe to be closer to family. Lucky≠s ever-present smile and positive attitude, his love for Yvonne and his family, and his passion for the Lord, golf, and a good joke could not be missed. Lucky was well-known at Frenchman≠s Bend Golf Course, where he was a member. At age 89, he still played golf 3 times a week and had a total of 6 holes-in-one, with the last taking place in 2009. Lucky was a member of Forsythe Avenue Church of Christ and attended First United Methodist Church as well. He is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Yvonne Counselman of Monroe; brother, Sidney Counselman and wife, Frances of Huntsville, AL; son, W. D. ¨Jake Counselman of Lafayette; daughter, Ann Sears and husband, Doug of Albuquerque, NM; daughter, Cyd Page Jacobs and husband, Joey of Monroe; grandchildren, Josh Sears and wife, Laray of Albuquerque, NM, Mike Sears and wife, Amy of Kansas, Jessica Page Johnston and husband, Jeremy of Baton Rouge, LA, Zachary Sears of Albuquerque, NM, Aly Page Taylor and husband, Josh of West Monroe, LA Shane Sears and wife, Erin of Albuquerque, NM, Jonathan Jacobs and Justin Jacobs of Baton Rouge, LA and Thomas Jacobs of New Orleans, LA; great-grandchildren, Joey and Mason Sears of Albuquerque, NM and numerous nieces, nephews, and ¨adopted grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be his fellow golfers and staff at Frenchman≠s Bend Golf Course. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Ouachita Christian School, St. Jude≠s Research Hospital, or Claiborne Christian School.
