Funeral Services for Mrs. Vivian Lucille Oldham Coody, age 93, of Ashland, Ohio will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday July 12, 2025 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe, Louisiana. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 12, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home.
Mrs. Coody went to be with her Lord and Savior on July4, 2025 in Ashland, Ohio. Mrs. Coody was born on October4, 1931 (though her mother would claim it was the 3rd) in Darnell, Louisiana to Malcolm and Lilla Oldham. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Arnold Coody; her parents; and her brothers, Marvin and Alvin Oldham. She is survived by her sister, Glenda Durr; her daughter, Dr. Cindy Moseman and husband, Kyle of Ashland, Ohio; son, Jonathan Coody and wife Brenda of Sunrise, Florida; and son, Tim Coody and wife Annette of Canton, Georgia; grandchildren, Eric Moseman, Joshua Coody, Joel Moseman, Grant Moseman, Shannon Coody, and Carson Coody; and great-grandchildren, Myles Moseman and Mabel Moseman.
Mrs. Coody professionally served in many roles over the years including as a clerk at the phone company, a church secretary at Hilltop Church of God in Columbus, Ohio, and as an administrative assistant at the Ouachita Pastoral Counseling Center in West Monroe, Louisiana.
She also had many responsibilities in church related activities. She was a Pastor’s wife, President of Seminary Wives at Anderson Theological Seminary, Chairperson of Pastoral Search Committees, Chairperson of the Christian Education Committee, Youth Group leader, and as a Sunday School teacher for both youth and children. She sang alto in choirs, in quartets (starting at age 5), and sang duets with her husband. She touched and helped many lives over the years.
She was an avid Louisiana Tech and LSU fan. In her high school years, she played basketball. She loved to play tennis with her husband and watch tennis even years later when she could no longer play. Up until the very end, she greatly enjoyed many games of dominoes, especially Mexican train even though she lost most of the time. She also loved playing the piano, playing every day up to age 93 – she said it was good for her soul.
Vivian was an outgoing, friendly, and joyful individual who was still making new friends at age 93.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt. She was a faithful supporter of her children in all their activities (e.g., academics, sports, music, etc.). From when she was a child to when she was a great-grandmother, being with her family brought her great joy. However, most important to her was the love for her Lord Jesus Christ.
