Vernon L. Martin Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe, LA Funeral services for Vernon L. Martin, 79, of West Monroe will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 26, 2007, in the Chapel of the Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe with Rev. Gene Thomas, Rev. Forest Post and Rev. Milton Lenard officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Calhoun, LA under the direction of the Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe. Mr. Martin was born March 26, 1927, in Columbia, LA and passed away on January 23, 2007, at his home in West Monroe. Survivors include his beloved wife, Lenora Martin; sons; Jerry G. Martin and wife Joleen, Gary L. Martin and wife, Evelyn; sister; Nina F. Jones and husband Jerry, of Denison, TX; grandchildren: Jeremy G. Martin and wife Lauren, Justin L. Martin; Crystal M. Murphy and husband Shannon, Casey L. Martin and wife Kristi; great grandchildren, Zac Richardson and Cameron Martin due in April. Mr. Martin was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, West Monroe Lodge 419, Monroe Scottish Rites, Barak Shrine Temple, Provost Guard, American Legion Post #13, and Local 659. He was an avid fisherman and hunter sharing his love of the outdoors with Lenora, his best friend and wife of 55 years. He was a Christian who loved gospel music and always enjoyed being a part of the annual Shriner≠s Circus. He loved his family and always had his grandchildren≠s desires at heart. Pallbearers will be grandsons; Jeremy Martin, Justin Martin, Casey Martin, Shannon Murphy, nephew, Jonathan Jones and family friend, Frank McDanell. Honorary pallbearers will be Provost Guard and Barak Shriners. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00 to 9:00PM at the Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe.
