Funeral services for Vernon E. “Buck” Smith, 82, of Sterlington, LA will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe. Mr. Smith was born on March 8, 1928 in Farmerville, LA and passed away on October 14, 2010 in Monroe, LA. He was member of the Sterlington Assembly of God Church and a retired mechanic for Ryder Trucking. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Beatrice Smith; son: Dwaine; and grandson: Cory. He is survived by daughters: Peggy Dixon and Reta Wooten and husband, Mark; sons: Bobby Smith and wife, Cindy, Davy Smith, and Eddy Smith and wife, Susan; sisters: Jean Cupp and Jo Ann Harrison; brothers: Charles and Culby Smith; 12 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be: Dylan Brown, Mark Wooten, Russell Dixon, Brian Dixon, Culby Smith, and Dale Downs. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, October 15, 2010 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe.
