Vera (Yaya) S. McQuade, age 93, of Monroe, LA passed away on March 22, 2022 at Landmark Nursing Home in Hammond, LA. She was born on February 2, 1929, to her parents, Ramiro and Luz Suarez. Vera was a retired bookkeeper and long time resident of Monroe, a graduate from Becker College, Worcester, Massachusetts and a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church.
Vera is remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a friend. She was a dedicated Christian, who lived a life of service, going out of her way helping others, making them feel special and included. She loved reading, cooking and decorating. Her joy was her family and she was especially fond of her great grandson, Jackson. She valued knowledge and encouraged everyone to pursue their goals and dreams. We will always remember her wisdom, keen insight and readiness to give advice.
Survivors include her daughter, Donna and husband, Dr. Doug Cook of Monroe, son, Paul “Bill” McQuade and wife, Gail, grandchildren, Christopher McQuade and wife, Rebekah, Eric McQuade and Luke McQuade, great grandson, Jackson McQuade and great granddaughter Ellie McQuade all of Hammond, Louisiana, sister, Elba Gay of Houston, Texas and many nephews and nieces.
