In the evening of September 30, 2018 Van Rogers, passed away peacefully following a battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family. He was 80 years old. Van was a Deacon and active member at Fellowship Baptist Church in Dubach where visitation will be held from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. on Tuesday, October 2 and the funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. on Wednesday, October 3 with Bro. Connie Smith officiating.A lifelong resident of Bernice, Louisiana, Van was born April 8, 1938 to Ben & Neita Rogers. After graduating from Louisiana Tech University, he had a 36 year career where he retired as the supervisor of the Child Welfare and Protective Services of the State of Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his parents Ben and Neita Rogers, two brothers Ervin Shorty and Dan Rogers, sister Dorothy Maudine Sis Patterson, niece Christine Smith and nephew Wayne Rogers. He is survived by his wife of 47 years Laverne Napper Rogers; daughter Vannette Rogers Simpson and husband Michael Shawn Simpson and two very special granddaughters Julia Rose and Anna Noelle Simpson of Sterlington, LA; sister Corine Hash of El Dorado, AR; sister-in-law Alice Rogers of Farmerville, LA; niece Allyson and husband Charlie Crow; great niece Allyann Crow all of Farmerville, LA; niece Neita Ghrigsby of Farmerville. LA; great nephews Steve Craighead of Farmerville, LA and Todd Craighead of Ruston, LA; nephew Don Rogers of Houma, LA; brother-in-law Robert Napper of Ruston, LA; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Charles and Larnell Fuller of Ruston,LA.Pallbearers will be Henry Watts, William Green, Ken Telford, Kevin Manning, Charles Taylor, Ron Badgley, and David Hartwell.
