Thomas T. Tommy Cooper Thomas T. Tommy Cooper, 73 peacefully entered heaven on Thursday, October 28, 2010. Visitation will be at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston Saturday, October 30 from 5pm to 8pm. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held Sunday, October 31 at 2p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Vienna, La. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Cooper was born in Monticello, Arkansas to Sara and David Cooper, who preceded him in death He lived most of his life in Ruston with the last 18 years being in the Hilly community. His first love was for the Lord Jesus Christ and he spent numerous hours each week studying the Word of God in accordance with II Tim. 2:15. He had a strong love for his family that was apparent to all that knew him. His family and friends often sought his wisdom and advice. Besides Bible study some of his other favorite past times included hunting, gardening, reading, woodworking, and observing all wildlife. Tommy was a good raconteur, had a good sense of humor, and enjoyed visiting with people. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 55 years, Nelda Green Cooper, three children: Marilyn Koehler and husband Jonathan of Utah, Steve Cooper and wife Laura of Choudrant, and Janet Edmonds and husband Darryl of Springhill Many precious memories and life lessons are left with his 10 grandchildren: Tiffiny McCoy fiancé James Nickelson, Stephanie Robertson Jason, Tonya Chitwood Jason, Barbara Goss fiancé Byron, Nathan McCoy, Timothy Koehler, Julie Cooper, Daniel Koehler, Thomas Cooper and Roger Blake Meridian. His five great grandchildren, Horizon Waters, Dolora Waters, Devon Waters, Lauren Rachel, and Alexandria Cooper gave much joy to Mr. Cooper. The other family members include two brothers: Bob Cooper Bobbie Ann of Florida and Bill Cooper Dawn of Texas; brother-in Laws: Willie Green Annette, the late Spencer Green Angie, Raymond Green, and John Green; sisters-in -laws: Jackie Thulin and Ann Hernandez Keith; one uncle, James W. Whitaker; step mother-in-law, Doris Tatum and several nieces and nephews. Special heartfelt thanks to Dr. Osofa, Linda Monroe and Kelly of the chemo department for their kind loving care. The family also appreciates the compassionate, sensitive Hospice Caring Hearts team who did an excellent job making his last days comfortable and providing support for the family. Pallbearers will be Greg Franklin, Kip Franklin, Todd Franklin, Terry Havins, Philip Johnson, and Darrell Newsom. Honorary pallbearers will consist of the Senior Men's Sunday school class of Calvary Baptist Church.
