Funeral services of Thomas Julian Bonnett of West Monroe, LA will be 11:00 a.m. Friday November 23, 2018 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA with Rev. Larry Roy officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Memorial Gardens in Choudrant, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. November 23, 2018 as well.Mr. Thom was born January 25, 1935 in West Monroe, LA and was called home by his Heavenly Father on November 19, 2018. Thom was an outdoorsman from an early age. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers on their family farm, recalling stories of hunting alone at the age of 10. He loved it so much he began to paint outdoors scenes with most of his work paying homage to the places and animals he had hunted. He continued to paint throughout his life. Thom was a talented craftsman as well, excelling at carpentry and carving in addition to his many other abilities. However, Thom truest gift was his ability to play guitar, which he picked up around the age of 13. Thom traveled through several states playing with artists such as Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Presley on the Louisiana Hay Ride. He even played studio guitar for Elvis on one his early albums. Thom hands and heart were blessed as his love was shown in all the things he chose to do.Thom is preceded in death by his father, Loe Bonnet; mother, Ada Lee Bonnett; brothers Willie, Dub, and Robert Bonnett; sister Eloise Simons; and Nephew, Herman Bonnett.He is survived by his niece, Martha Simons; great niece, Tina Hemphill Lofton and husband Todd; great nephew, Wayne Simmons; a host of great, great nieces and nephews including: Jesse and Alex Simons, Kayla Hemphill and Kalina Poe; and step-son Louis Krickel.Honorary Pallbearers will be Jesse Simons, Alex Simons, and Todd Lofton.
