Mr. Ledford was born on January 13, 1921 in Vernon, LA and passed away on April 3, 2023 at his residence in Ruston. He was a loving father to five children and his hobbies included: gardening, fishing, pecan picking, and watching The Price is Right and Jeopardy. Mr. Ledford was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Helen C. Ledford; his son, Steve Ledford; son-in-law, George Davidson; a brother; and two sisters.
Thomas moved his family to Ruston in 1948 after serving as Sargent in the U. S. Army in the Pacific Campaign of World War II. He served with the Battery A 202nd Antiaircraft Artillery Battalion. Thomas served his Lord and Savior by being a faithful member of Cook Baptist Church for over 70 years. He served as deacon and oversaw buildings and grounds. He was honored by the church by being awarded Deacon Emeritus in 2010. Thomas was the successful business owner of Ledford Plumbing & Heating in Ruston for many decades. Upon his retirement from being a business owner, he accepted the position of Building Inspector with the City of Ruston, as a favor to the city he loved. He was an avid supporter of Ruston High School Band by transporting instruments to and from away games and to out-of-town band competitions. Thomas was a loyal student in the Louisiana Tech Senior Adult Exercise program. He enjoyed attending Louisiana Tech University athletic games, especially those of his beloved Lady Techsters. He, along with his wife Helen, followed the Techsters across the country many times to show support for “The Girls”. Thomas became part of the establishment of the Lincoln Parish Library by bringing a book mobile full of books from Baton Rouge that became the first books in the library. He was a past member of the Ruston Rotary Club, enjoyed breakfast with fellow veterans at the VFW hall, and visiting with friends at the Ruston Council on Aging.
