Theon McGee Kilpatrick Funeral Home Ruston, LA Graveside services for Theon McGee, age 95, of Shreveport formerly of Bernice will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Bernice City Cemetery in Bernice LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston, LA. Officating the service will be Rev. Lamar Skinner. Alice Theon Murphy McGee was born June 23, 1918 in Hico, Louisiana to the late John T. and Carrie Murphy Deason. She went home to be with the Lord on November 17, 2013. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Bernice until 2000, she then joined Summer Grove Baptist Church in Shreveport after moving in with her daughter following the death of her loving husband, Hugh, whom she loved and cared for faithfully until his home going just two months before their 60th Wedding Anniversary. She was a homemaker until both daughters had married, then worked for the C.A. Reed Lumber Company in Bernice where both daughters had worked for over 20 years before retiring. Theon was director of the Junior Sunday School department for years, and then worked in the nursery until she began teaching the “older” ladies Sunday school class at First Baptist in Bernice, before moving to Shreveport. She was an active member of WMU. She was a faithful member of the Bernice Adult Choir. She loved her Lord and her churches and was a faithful prayer warrior for both churches. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hugh L'Scott McGee; her parents: John and Carrie Deason and sister, Eton Caldwell. Left to cherish her memories are daughters: Linda Weldon and husband Jerry of Shreveport, LA, Pamela Aden and husband Rick of Baton Rouge, LA; granddaughters: Penny Weldon, Tracey Andrews and husband Kevin and Rikki David and husband Daniel; and great-grandchildren: Shelly Rogers, Megan and Madison Matthews and Kendahl, Colby and Claire David. She will be greatly missed The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Landmark Nursing Center of Shreveport, where she spent the last 8 years of her life, for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Louisiana Baptist Children's Home in Monroe, LA; Building fund of Bernice Baptist Church or Summer Grove Baptist Church.
