Hello Finkbeiner family. I have a picture of Sgt Finkbeiner with my Grandfather in WW2. I believe they may be in England or possibly Italy pre- Operation Market Garden. My E-mail is sa9934740@gmail.com

A group of 12 students from College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, Missouri, were blessed to get to know Mr. Finkbeiner on a once in a lifetime trip to the Netherlands in the Fall of 2009 to commemorate the 65th anniversary of Operation Market Garden. As the students journeyed back with WWII Veterans, they got to learn about the life experiences of this American hero. Those 12 students will never forget his story. I was blessed to accompany them and got to watch from the sidelines during an reenactment of the Waal River crossing. It forever changed my life and the lives of our students. We are sorry for your loss but grateful that we got to know him at such a special time in his life. Sincerely, Sue Head, Director, The Patriotic Education Travel Program at College of the Ozarks.

I have many wonderful memories of Grandpa. Going over to their house on Gordon Avenue and celebrating his birthday and Father's day. I always loved to see him smile; it always made everything else go away and made me feel special. I love you Grandpa!
Peace of mind is a call away. We're here when you need us most.
Carol King left a message on August 8, 2010:
My most fondest memories of Grandpa are mornings when we were visiting them in Monroe and Grandpa would wake me before the sun would even come up, take me out to some dark and wet place and we would sit in the quiet and fish until he was just about ready to toss me off the boat for talking his ear off. At the house I would sit on his lap and rub the top of his head partly out of love and partly just because he would let me. Seems kind a silly now, but I'll never forget it. He was many things to many people, but to me he was just Grandpa and for that I am great full and tearful that I never got to say "goodbye" . "I love you Grandpa, see you in heaven someday, goodbye for now"

Beverly and Family, The memorial service was so touching today. It must be very uplifting to know that your dad touched so many lives in such a positive way. It was apparant from the many stories and expressions of love, that your dad was an incredible man who was a wonderful husband, father, and friend. I know he will be missed!

Johnnie, I am so sorry about 'T.' I remember all the tennis tournaments we played with both of you. I know that T didn't toot his own horn, but when I read the obiturary, I was amazed about all his accomplishments. Hope God's peace will be with you & your family. Love & Prayers, Lois

I have only known "T" for a few years since I joined Pine Hill Golf Club and began participating in the Wednesday Scramble. I always knew I was in for a special day when I was chosen to be on a team with him. Both being retired firefighters, we always had something to talk about. "T" was truly an honorable member of that greatest generation and will be missed.

I first met T at The Hills was then Pine Hills in 1992 when we were on the same team in the Wednesday scramble. It didn't take me long to realize that he was one of the finest men I had ever met. I enjoyed watching his eyes sparkle when he told me about his summers in Yellowstone/Grand Tetons. He will be sorely missed.

In helping my wife with dance recitals over the years at the Civic Center, I had the pleasure of working with Cap'n 'T' many times. He was a fine man and will be missed. Our country has lost another hero as well. My prayers are with your family.
