Thelma Ball Holden Thelma Ball Holden was taken by the Lord to his Heavenly Kingdom on February 11, 2008. Born in Ruston, LA to Lillian Holloway and Ernest Eric Ball on January 29, 1909, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Michael Holden and her four brothers. She is survived by her children John Michael Holden, Jr. and wife Fonda; Mary Elizabeth Allen and husband Fred; grandchildren Trey Holden and Michelle Allen-Emerson and husband Robert; great granddaughter Lottie Allen Emerson. Thelma loved people and was involved in many civic and charitable activities. She spent most of her life in Shreveport where she served as Vice-Chairman of the Republican Party Fourth District. She was also Caddo Parish Chairman of the Women?s Republican Club. She was appointed by Governor Treen to the position Louisiana State Coordinator for the White House Conference on Aging in 1981. She established the first fund drive for the Northwest Louisiana Heart Association and was a member of St. Paul?s Episcopal Church and a Daughter of the American Revolution.Thelma was devoted to her family. There will be a graveside service at the Greenwood Cemetery in Ruston at 10:00 a.m., February 14, 2008. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer?s Association, the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
