Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley Jo Mathus, 78, of West Monroe, LA will be held Wednesday, November 24^th, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Watson Chapel Baptist Church, West Monroe, LA. Rev. Robert “Bob” Holloway will officiate. Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Services are under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.

Mrs. Mathus was born on February 26^th, 1943 in Alexandria, LA and passed away from this life on November 21, 2021 surrounded by her loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents, N.M. Clifton and Lillie Honeycutt Clifton; her sisters, Gloria Clifton Hood, Wanda Delene Clifton, Mitzi Pamela Clifton; and granddaughter, Kirby Jo Mathus.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Billy Mathus; her three sons, Kevin Mathus, Keith Mathus, Kelly Mathus (wife Sabrina); her grandchildren, Kyle Mathus, Katie Mathus, Kimber Mathus, Lexi Giddens (husband Ty), Kori Beth Cheatwood (husband Jacob) and Jakob Mathus; great-grandchildren, Adalynn Knowles, Karson Mathus and Zeplynn Knowles; four nieces, Lori, Mona, Brenda and Bonnie.

The family extends special thanks to Glenwood ICU nurses Monica and Avery. Our family appreciates your kindness during this time.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

My heart goes out to the family. We are saddened , but confident that these grievous trials will be reversed with the miracle of the resurrection. We loved Shirley! In spite of the many health issues she has experienced over the last several years, she never complained but instead found joy in the trials. Her smiling face and her laughter will be missed, but we rejoice in her healing as we know that she was looking forward to going to be with Jesus. Our loss is heaven’s gain, and we look forward to the great celebration to come. Bill and sons and other family, our deepest sympathy on the empty space left by her departure. She loved you all dearly.
