Nikki: I just received a note from Shirley Soto telling me about your mom. I am so sorry. This really hits me as close to home as my mother's death last Dec., because Shirley was my generation and a personal friend. My husband and I saw Shirley in the coffee place downtown when we were home for my mother's funeral. I am so glad now that we had that chance encounter and that one last short visit. She was an amazing person, and what dear memories I have of our friendship back so many years ago. I know you will miss her so much, but with your memories she will forever live in your heart.

I was Ms. Shirley's former social worker. She always had such great things to say about Nikki, Larance, Jessica and Lawson. Lawson was the light of her life. She told me of her and her husband having a standing date once a week to watch an old time western on tv until his death. I still think of Ms. Shirley whenever I see an old western on tv. I like to think she and John are taking up where they left off, sitting together watching an old western movie in heaven.

I was in the Ruston High School Band with Shirley and later, my wife Betty worked with her at Commercial Union. We were priveleged to know her as a friend. We saw her at my niece's Deborah Yeich wedding in Ruston a few years ago and she was obviously in poor health then. Our condolences go out to her family.
Peace of mind is a call away. We're here when you need us most.

Shirley was a good friend. The Ya Ya sisters took care of me from my first day on the job at Commercial Union. I have very good memories of working with her and will miss her much.
