Our beautiful tenacious loving mother, Sharron L. Bonner, age 94, is dancing with her husband and laughing and knee slapping with her brothers and sisters in Heaven. Her joy was family and friends and dancing. Sharron never met a stranger and was determined to tell everyone how she loved them and to never stop dancing.
Sharron was the youngest of nine siblings born on September 7, 1929, in Coldwater, Missouri and passed away in Covington, LA on February 1, 2024. Her father was a farmer, and her mother was a voracious reader and a homemaker. There was work and love and laughter and dancing in their home. Sharron picked cotton and sold watermelons as a child. She married G.C. Harris and was blessed with a beautiful, smart first daughter, Latina Gayle. Soon after, Sharron became a young widow. Naturally, she went to work for Landers Company in Memphis, TN under the tutelage of Mrs. Bertie Clark in the better millinery department. Sharron shined as a millinery clerk and was offered to manage a department in Montgomery, AL. It was here that she was asked on a blind date with Frank Bonner. And the rest is history. They were transferred to Monroe where she managed the millinery department at the Women’s Shop downtown. Her best friend, Bess Courtman asked if she had ever thought about opening her own store. Sharron opened Sharron’s Dress Shop Inc. and loved, loved, loved her sweet loyal customers, and spoke fondly and remembered them daily. Forty-two years of love shared with family, customers, and competitors to give her family a great life.
Frank and Sharron were entrepreneurs at heart and not only were incredible retail business people, but they began a real estate business that is still managed today. She was preceded in death by her husbands, G.C. Harris and Robert Frank Bonner.
Sharron is survived by her daughters, Latina Bonner Robinson and her husband, Douglas of New Orleans and Cathy Bonner Hudson and her husband, Greg of Memphis, TN; her son, Robert Frank Bonner II of Covington; her grandchildren, John John S. Robinson and his wife, Genia and Jeffrey C. Robinson and his wife, Cindy; great grandchildren, Taylor McKlemurry and her wife, Jerri, Gracie Robinson, Stella Robinson, Clayton Robinson, Brandon Robinson; and step-grandchildren, Kaillie and Keagan Robinson.
