The death of Sarah Miller is acknowledged today. She transitioned Sunday, July 3, 2011, at 12:35 AM. Sarah Francis Youngblood Miller was born February 9, 1948, in Colfax, LA, to Earl and Sarah Youngblood. She was the youngest of two girls. Sarah, known as “Sissy” was a retired educator and local business owner. Since 2000, she was better known as co-owner of the Wild Bird Center of Monroe store. She was married to Gary Miller in 1969, to whom she bore one son, Sean. As a Mother, she devoted herself to her son everyday. Sean thanks her for filling his heart with love, and giving him the faith in himself to live his life to the fullest. For the nearly 10 years that she operated her store, she had the fortune of sharing her life with many wonderful customers. They would become her extended family. To her friends, Sean thanks you for loving her. Her greatest passion in life was animals, and nothing delighted her more than the sight of a Summer Tanager, or the playfulness of her 13 cats. Her babies miss her dearly. Preceding Sissy in death was her husband Gary, who died in 2005. Survivors include her son Sean, as well as her sister Mary Maxwell of Vidor, TX. Thank you for loving us Mary Kay. Donations would be appreciated at: River City Humane Society for Cats, Friends of Black Bayou Lake NWR, or The Carcinoid Foundation Carcinoid.org. As a note: Sissy's unfulfilled wish was to see Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. Sean hopes to dedicate her remains there someday. I love you Momma. A gathering in her memory is planned for Monday night, July 11, 2011, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, at the home of Johnny and Betty Jean James, 3608 Scenic Dr. in Monroe. Call 789-9040 for directions.
