She died Saturday, May 27, 2017 following a brief illness.Sadie was born to James Thomas Howell and Sarah Ellen Durrett Howell on May 21, 1925 in Arcadia, Louisiana. She graduated from Simsboro High School in 1942. In 1945, Sadie met the love of her life, Benjamin Patrick Pat Kincannon on a train on New Year Eve. A year later they met by accident and 4 months later they married as he was being discharged from the Air Force at the end of World War II. Their marriage tells a sweet love story lasting for 66 years, until Pat death in 2012. Together, they raised four children. Sadie was a dedicated military wife for 28 years serving her country by being at her husband side. Sadie, Pat, and their children lived at different Air Force bases across America before settling in Ruston in 1970. There they became faithful members of Trinity United Methodist Church. Known as Gram to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Sadie greatest joy was to prepare and serve a hearty and delicious meal to a house filled with family. She was full of spunk and sass! She loved fun and dancing and staying into the wee hours of the morning at the Horseshoe Casino. She loved to win, and she loved to share her winnings! Ruston natives will recall Sadie energy and charisma as an employee for 38 years at Roger Furniture Store in Ruston. Sadie retired at the young age of 83. Sadie was full of life and truly young at heart. She loved people and never met a stranger and they immediately fell in love with her. They always said I hope I can be just like you when I get older.
