Funeral services for Mr. Samuel J. Taylor, 88, of Monroe, will be held on Sunday, February 4, 2007, at 1:30 PM in the Lea Joyner United Methodist Church in Monroe with Rev. Weldon Bares, Rev. Betty Swanson, Rev. Joe Solomon, and Rev. Isaac Patton officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Cemetery in Homer, Louisiana. Mr. Taylor was born April 14, 1918, in Haynesville, LA, to the late Francis and Helen Lowe Taylor. He passed away on February 1, 2007, in Monroe, LA. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 63 years, Mary Jim Mitchell Taylor. A math teacher for the greater part of his life, Mr. ¨Sam was a devoted and loving husband, daddy, granddaddy and great granddaddy. A dedicated and committed Christian in every sense of the word he was a faithful servant for his Lord. Mr. Taylor also served his country during World War II in the US Army Air Corps and he was active in the Western Star Lodge. Survivors include his daughters, Mary Virginia Taylor and Jane Cananza and husband, Lu; grandsons, Michael Taylor and wife, Janna, and Corey Cananza; granddaughter, Carrie Olgreen and husband, Jacob; and great granddaughters, Hannah and Sarah Taylor.
