Sam’s First Day in Heaven – An Obituary for Samuel A. Woods Upon being welcomed into heaven with open arms on Wednesday, December 1st, 2021, Samuel Adam Woods was overheard telling St. Peter, “I’m crazy, but I ain’t stupid,” the punchline to an age-old story shared within the Bodie and Jo Woods home in Ruston,Continue Reading

I’m so sad to lose Sam. He is one of my oldest friends and, although we’d grown apart, that cannot separate us from the many memories and good times (and trouble) we shared. Sam is one of the kindest and funniest people I’ve ever met. His wit is unparalleled - I always figured he’d end up on SNL. The world is at a loss without him. Undoubtedly, Sam is one of those rare individuals who left the world a better place. Goodbye to my friend. I will miss you.

Sam was an amazing man! He was the kind of person that lit up the room when he entered. I always looked forward to seeing him. He was uplifting, positive and always seemed to be happy! He will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him. Elizabeth, Eli and the family will be in my prayers! Bob Mitchell

I taught and coached Sam at Rhodes College, and it was an honor to stay in touch with him after he graduated and watch his wonderful career(s) evolve. I considered him a friend and was very proud of his accomplishments. His success in life was presaged by his success on the storied Rhodes Mock Trial team. He was a national champion, All-American, and one of the very best witnesses we ever had. Beneath his unassuming manner was a very sharp mind that never failed to keep his opponents off guard. As a matter of fact, years after he graduated the program retained "a Sam Woods test." If a cross examiner could not be sure what Sam would say in response, they were not allowed to ask the question. He was a terrific competitor, a even better person, and he will be sorely missed. May he rest in peace.
Peace of mind is a call away. We're here when you need us most.

I was with Sam on November 15 in San Francisco. We toured a number of potential locations for new and relocations for Cycle Gear. Like always Sam was so professional and easy to talk about everything. That day, in between looking at various buildings, we talked about cars, food and family. I considered Sam a class guy I will always remember for his smile and love for life. God bless Sam and his family.

Love Sam! I always think of him as a gentle giant. His quick whit and humor are the characteristics that I remember most. Sam made youth group activities at TBC so much more entertaining! If I only had pictures of some of the shenanigans we used to get into (probably a blessing that we didn’t have social media back then). Sam has made an impact on people across the world - and we are all luckier because we knew him. Thoughts are with Elizabeth and the rest of the Family
