Funeral services for Salvadore Gonzales, Sr. age 96, of Monroe, LA will be 10:00 AM Friday June 22, 2007 at St. Matthew Catholic Church with Father Mike Haney officiating and interment will follow at Monroe Memorial Park under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday, June 21, 2007 with a rosary at 7:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe. Mr. Gonzales was born November 13, 1910 in Zacatecas, Mexico and passed away at St. Joseph Nursing Home in Monroe, LA on June 19, 2007. He was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Maria Margarita Romo Gonzales and a grandson Mark Gregory Smith and a great grandson, Russal Cole Strain. Mr. Gonzales was a retired chef/butcher and his favorite pastime was woodworking. Mr. Gonzales is survived by 10 children: Jose Lupe Gonzales, Carmen G. Smith, Mary Margaret Gonzales, Rose McVay, Rachel Strain, Helen Hendricks, Hope Federico, Veronica Green, Sam C. Gonzales, and Theresa Hunt; 27 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be: Floyd E. Sandiford II, Nathaniel F.
