Sam or Junior, depending on where and when you met him, was born on Aug 13, 1923 to Love and Verda Foster in Point, La. After graduating from Downsville High School he joined the United States Marine Corp in 1943. He served his country through WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He said he was lucky, traveled to many places and had a good life during his time in the Marine Corp. Sam retired from the USMC in 1972 and moved back to West Monroe, La. Thru his life Sam enjoyed playing dominoes, bingo, bowling, playing baseball and watching Braves baseball, Saints football, John Wayne movies, reading Louis L'Amour novels and marriage. He was married four times. He nick named one of his grandsons after is favorite Louis L'Amour character. He would use his bingo winning to take trips to Las Vegas or Hawaii to visit friends and family. He also enjoyed a monthly lunch at Hooter's with a group of ladies from the credit union. If he wasn't doing one of these things he could probably be found with a smile on his face calling a guy “podnuh” or a lady “doll”. He made friends everywhere he went.
