Ruth was born May 17, 1932 in Clarks, LA and passed away August 26, 2021 in West Monroe. She was preceded in death by her husband, F.P. “Todd” Oglethorpe; parents, Ed and Willie Virginia Reeves; brothers, Curtis, Milton, and Richard Reeves.
A devoted wife to Todd Oglethorpe for 71 years, she was an industrious lady who loved God, family, church, friends, and ULM. Nothing made her happier than planning and preparing meals for any and all occasions even if she had to create one. She always brought a bright light to any room she entered. Her sassiness, spunk, and high energy always propelled her into the middle of fun and being the life of the party. Her devotion to serving the ULM students and faculty was the highlight of her day for over 30 years. She thrived on making traditions and memories with all those she loved. Being a wonderful steward, she had an unwavering faithfulness to Christian Life Church since 1954. How sweet is her victory today to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
Ruth is survived by her son, Terry Oglethorpe and wife Le’Sann; daughter, Kim Oglethorpe Masters and husband Gary; brother, Wilbur Reeves and wife Diane; granddaughters, Rana Oglethorpe, Tevia Oglethorpe Alfter and husband Austin, Sabre Masters, and Hayley Masters; great-grandson, Milo Alfter; sister-in-law, Recy Reeves.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ronnie Cupit, Clifton Cox, Randy McManus, Nicky Giddens, Brad Masters and David Masters.
The family expresses sincere thanks to the staff at Savannah Grand Cottage and Louisiana Hospice.
