Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Dillard Smith, 93, of Ruston, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, 2006 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. Mrs. Smith was born on Nov. 21, 1912 in Broken Bow, Okla. Bro. Dewayne Monk of New Hope Baptist Church will be officiating. Visitation will be held prior to service beginning at 12 Noon. Burial will follow at Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery in Farmerville under the direction of Kilpatirck Funeral Home. Mrs. Smith died Wednesday Oct. 4, 2006 at Lincoln General Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, The Order of the Eastern Star where she was a past worthy matron, and the Women's Department Club. She is survived by one daughter, Peni Smith Armstrong and husband Ray Armstrong of Ruston; one granddaughter, Emily Armstrong of Monroe; and one grandson, Felix Ray Armstrong, III of Ruston. She is preceded in death by husband William Dalton Smith and daughter Patricia Ruth Smith. She also has three sisters, Mattie Hill of Bryn Mawr, Pa., Helen Oliver of El Dorado, Ark., Betty Sue Holder of Shreveport and one brother Buddy Dillard of Canfield, Ark. She is also preceded in death by sister, Eleanor McDonald and brother, Roy Dillard. Pallbearers will be Rob Carter, Bo Carter, David Johnson, Ronnie Fields, Dennis Allen and James Colvin. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital and New Hope Baptist Church.
