Roy Merle Ferrington Roy M. Ferrington of Ruston was born on March 16, 1929 and went to be with his Lord on July 20, 2007. Roy is a native of West Monroe. He worked for Entergy, served in the army in the Korean War and retired from Entergy after over 42 years of service. He was also a consultant for the Oglethorpe Power Company of Atlanta, Georgia for 2 and a half years and the Ruston Utility Department for 2 years. He was a people person who truly loved everyone he met. The Power and Light Prayer Group has met in Roy's home for approximately 10 years and they began the Power and Light Weatherization Project over five years ago. This project was born out of the group's desire to help others in the community to lower their utility bills by providing materials for weatherizing their homes. In conjunction with Student Life in Birmingham, Alabama, who provided students to do the work several weeks of the year, They have helped hundreds of people within a 20 mile radius of Ruston over the past six summers. Roy felt so strongly about helping people lower their utility bills that he wrote several articles for The Ruston Daily Leader giving helpful hints on simple ways people could lower their bills. In 1999, Roy went to the Ukraine with Helping Hands, International and helped with wiring an orphanage.
