Roy Clyde Delony, 80, of Ruston, LA passed away September 29, 2017 at his home after a 15 year struggle with Parkinson's Disease. Visitation will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Ruston on Sunday, October 1, 2017 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. A funeral service celebrating his life will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 2, 2017 at Calvary Baptist Church in Ruston. Officiating will be Bro. Bill Reid. Burial will follow at Vienna Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston.Roy was born on March 24, 1937 in Ruston. He was a graduate of Ruston High School and Louisiana Tech University. In his professional life, Roy was Manager of JACO Federal Credit Union, retiring from JACO and T. L. James & Co. in 1999 after 34 years service. Roy and his mother also owned and managed Delony's Store in Vienna from 1951-1999.Roy was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as deacon, treasurer, music director and many other ways over the past 70 years. Roy's passion in life was for others to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior as he did.Left behind to cherish his memory is his wife of 58 years, Margaret Delony, who provided exceptional love and care to him; daughter, Daphne Taylor and husband Kirk of Ruston; grandchildren Daniel Taylor and wife Laura of Ruston, Dustin Taylor and wife Erin of Ruston, Claire Lavers and husband Tim of Cypress, TX, Thomas Heathman and wife Hannah of Galveston, TX, and Leslie Heathman and fiance Chance Marek of Huntsville, TX. Roy was also blessed with five great-grandchildren, who all adored Daddy D. They are Garrett, Jax, Peyton, Harper and McKenzie Taylor, all of Ruston. He is also survived by many cousins, members of his wife's family, classmates of RHS class of 1955, and many friends.Preceding Roy in death were his parents, W. D. “Hap” Delony and Belva Delony, his daughter Elise Delony Heathman, and great-grandson Noah Daniel Taylor.Pallbearers will be Willie Green, James Davison, Jerry Houston, Andy Clark, Tommy Larance, and Rod Duchesne. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Calvary Baptist Church. The family requests any memorials be made to Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 5200 Hwy 167, Ruston, LA 71270.
