Funeral services for Roy Clayton Baker will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, May 6, 2022 in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe with Rev. Kent Nugent officiating. Military honors and interment will be held at 2:30 Friday at Nebo Cemetery, Nebo, LA(near Jena, LA). Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.
Roy C. Baker age 73, tragically passed away on May 1, 2022. Roy was born April 5, 1949 in Beaumont, Texas. He will be remembered by his many accomplishments, his bravery, and the love that he shared. Roy served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and he was a volunteer firefighter for Fisher Ferry Volunteer Fire Department in Vicksburg, Mississippi. He was an engineer for Kirby Inland Marine. Roy was a member of First Baptist Church in Newellton, LA. Roy was an active member of the American Legion and the VFW. He was preceded in death by his parents Roy Otis and Nannie Maurice Baker; maternal grandparents Carey and Naomi Andrews; paternal grandparents William and Angie Franklin; siblings Judith Baker, Robert Baker, Benny Baker and Jerry Baker.
Roy is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gayle Baker; his daughter Crystal Williams (Lee); grandchildren Lacey Williams (Cody Gardner), Makayla Williams, Madison Williams and Clayton Williams; his sister Debra Koster, niece and nephew he helped raise, Chris Baker (Lindsey Wheeler), Rachel Searcy (Lee Searcy); her three sons, Thomas, Preston and Benjamin, brother and sisters-in-laws Helen Patterson, Harry and Joyce Cassels, and Nell and Eugene Kenworthy; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Roy will be greatly missed by all of his extended family.
Pallbearers will be Marcus Kenworthy, James Cook, Trinity Hillestad, Trey Hillestad, Bobby Weatherford, Darren Hillestad.
Honorary pallbearers will Clayton Williams, Thomas Searcy, Chris Baker, Eugene Kenworthy, Lee Williams and Harry Cassels.
Dad, Bubba, Paw Paw, Pop-Pop, Uncle Roy, you are greatly missed by so many, but forever living on in our hearts.
