Ronnie was a born planner, builder, protector, an avid hunter, and fisherman. As a young child, he earned money by delivering groceries in a red wagon to his neighbors and made sure he was there when scuffles at school involved his siblings. He was drafted into the US Army in 1967, serving one tour in Vietnam at the age of 19. Surviving boot camp and with rifle in hand, he was flown to Vietnam and told to jump and run when the helicopter hovered above ground. As a planner, he made it his mission to carry the biggest gun with the most ammunition, to protect himself and his brothers in arm. During his service, Ronnie received numerous commendations including the Bronze Star (V). Following his discharge, Ronnie worked as an Auto Body Technician until his retirement in 2014.
He possessed immense warmth, self-awareness, and a sense of humor that was shared with everyone he knew. A man with an unwavering integrity and quiet strength that was evident in everything he did. He was the epitome of what a man should be.
Ultimately his greatest passion in life was his family. He will be remembered always as a devoted husband, loving father, wonderful brother, and as his grandkids would say, an awesome PawPaw. He left his family with a lifetime of genuine love, fond memories to cherish, and life lessons that he instilled daily. He will be deeply and forever missed.
Ronnie was never one to stand in the limelight and draw attention to himself. With that in mind, the family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
