He is survived by his brother, Carlton and wife Carol, his sister, Pat Gordon and preceded in death husband Kendall, his sister Sharon Rice and husband Mike, and brother Kendall and significant other Ellie Lizotte and numerous nieces and nephews. When visiting his brother, Carlton in Shreveport, LA, he met the love of his life, Clara Beatrice Hooper and decided to make Louisiana his home. In 1955, Roland started working for Harrison Company as a salesman. He then worked another 7 years as a salesman for Homer Tobacco Company. They lived in the Ruston LA area where they raised their 4 children teaching them his love for the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer, a true outdoorsman with many great accomplishments (and stories) throughout his years. Another favorite pastime of his was the game of forty-two. We will never play another game of dominoes without remembering the good times we had playing forty-two with Roland.He was a Lifetime member of the NRA. In the day, Roland enjoyed dancing, especially the jitterbug, and was a member of Arthur Murray School of Dance. He was an active and dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Dubach for 41 years, where he was a Sunday School teacher for many years.
