Mr Snyder was the best teacher I have ever known. He is the reason I decided to obtain my degree in English. His enthusiasm, passion, and scholarship were enormous in addition to a great sense of humor with which he communicated.. I have never forgotten him after all these years! With great affection and gratitude...Olivia

To the Snyder family, I am so sorry for your loss. Mr. Snyder was one of favorite teachers at Tech. As the obituary says, he was much more than a teacher as evidenced by his fine family and his extensive civic activity. God rest his soul. Billy Weathersby

To the Snyder Family: I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Snyder's passing. I knew him for most of my life and he was one of my favorite teachers when I attended Tech in 1959. Daddy and Mr. Snyder did not always see eye-to-eye, but they were good friends and although Daddy chose himself for most of my courses, he said that I should have Mr Snyder for my Freshman English class! You all will miss him but he is always with you watching over everything that you do, and if he is anything like my father, he will be correcting your English in your head for a long time to come! He lived a long and productive life and many people will remember him and that is a tribute that few can write for their lives! You will be in my prayers and I wish that I lived closer so that I could be there! Elizabeth Sachs Piker

To Stephana Snyder Dean and family, Verna Poyner and I visited with Mr. and Mrs. Snyder at the Russ House two summers ago. It was a pleasure to spend the afternoon talking about literature, history and even politics with your father. Stephana, I know you were a great comfort to both your parents over the years and you will miss your father very much. My deepest sympathy to you and your family during this sad time.

As the friend and college roommate of Mr Snyder's daughter, Stephana, I was the recipient of much good fatherly advice from him. I passed along to my daughters, "You are what you read." I was also priviledged to be his employee in college and to take his wonderful Southern Literature class. I'm so pleased for his family that he's being honored by so many, and my thoughts and love go out to them.

Please accept my sincerest condolences in the loss of my beloved Mr. Snyder. I was privileged to be his student and to be present in the last class he taught. He was one of the greatest influences in my teaching career.

I am so sorry to learn of Mr. Snyder's death. He was my favorite professor. I worked for him during the summer semester when his son, Robert, Jr., was born--a time of special joy for him. I visited him several years ago at Russ House and spoke with him by phone during this past winter. I had hoped to visit him again in October. I am sad not to be able to talk to him once more. Every college student should have a professor like Mr. Snyder. He was such a delight in class. His office door was always open to us, and we visited him regularly. He was our teacher, our advisor, and most importantly, our friend. I treasure my years at Tech especially because of him. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Most sincerely, Ann Jones Messier Class of '59

As one of Professor Synder's many students, I remember him with great fondness. He loved his family, his work, and perhaps some of his students. I shall miss seeing him and his wife at the Lady Techster basketball games.

To the family of Prof. Robert Snyder, My sympathy is with you at this time of loss of a member of your family. Mr. Synder was head of the English Dept. and I was head of the Math. Dept. during part of our times at Tech. We shared experiences and discussed news especially after we had retired. This was done mostly as we waited on our wives to finish walking at the Tech Track. Mr. Synder contributed greatly to Ruston by his work in establishing the library. He will be missed by many in this area.
