Robert Bob Howard Newell Kilpatrick Funeral Home Ruston, LA A private committal will be held for Mr. Robert Bob Howard Newell, age 81, of Ruston, on Saturday at Wimberly Cemetery in Ringgold, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. Mr. Newell was born June 20, 1931 and passed away October 18, 2012 following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents: Eura and John Howard; and sister, Jean Newell. Mr. Newell was a Professor of Engineering at Louisiana Tech, and served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, International Association of Arson Investigators, and president of the Wimberly Cemetery Association. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo Newell of Ruston; son: Don Newell and wife Kelly of West Monroe; grandson: Tom Newell of West Monroe; daughter: Nancy Sutton and husband Mike of Sterlington; and grandson: Luke Sutton also of Sterlington. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Friday, October 19, 2012 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Ben Grigsby, Dr. Ed Mariano, and Dr. Tommy Smith for their care given to Mr. Newell. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Methodist Children's Home or Horse Assisted Therapy Services HATS. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.kilpatrickfuneralhomes.com
