Richard Burgoyne, beloved husband of Tywannia “Tee” Burgoyne and devoted father of Jan Daniels and Ann Fugler, died at Glenwood Regional Medical Center on February 11, 2008 following a brief illness.Mr. Burgoyne, born on November 11, 1939, was a lifelong resident of Monroe. He graduated from Neville High in the Class of 1957, attended LSU and graduated from Northeast Louisiana University with a degree in Business Administration. For many years before his retirement Mr. Burgoyne owned and operated Burgoyne Janitorial Service and Total Property Maintenance.Richard, called “the Whale” by his many friends, had a passion for golf, serving as the Official Starter and Assistant to the Executive Director of the Louisiana Golf Association, providing live coverage from the Masters during the 70's and 80's through KMLB radio, and playing many rounds over the years with his friends at Bayou DeSiard Country Club. He was a member of the Louisiana Sports Writers' Association and committee member for the USGA. Richard also was an avid fan of ULM and supported the University's Athletic program with his attendance over the years and his involvement in the Booster Club. He was on the broadcast team providing color commentary from 1979 to 1983. He was also active in the Monroe Rotary Club for many years. Mr. Burgoyne was the most proud and happiest when he was surrounded by his family.He was preceded in death by his father, Everette Burgoyne, and mother, Zora Barlowe Burgoyne Survivors include his wife, Tywannia “Tee” Burgoyne; daughters: Jan Daniels and husband, Derek and Ann Fugler and husband, John; grandchildren: Will Daniels, Parker Fugler and Whitney Fugler, who lovingly called him Bubba; and sister: Doll Burgoyne.During his later years he spent most of his time attending the “boys” ball games and enjoyed the company of “folks” who dropped by.Bubba's memory will remain vivid to his family and friends with wonderful stories about a man who enjoyed life to the fullest and could always bring a smile to anyone's face. He will be deeply missed.At Mr. Burgoyne's request, because of his love of the outdoors, a graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2008 at 12:00 Noon at Memorial Park Cemetery here in Monroe. Everyone is invited to come and be a part of the service. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home on Lamy Lane in Monroe.Pallbearers will be: Henry Thomas, Henry Cole, Dr. Howard John, Kenny Cagle, Bo Bilbo, John Cobb, Carl Aron, French Smith, and Bill Rose.Honorary pallbearers will be: Bob De Moss, Don Stinson, Ralph Wicker, and Dr. Buddy Bodron.Memorials may be made to Ruple-Brown Memorial Scholarship Fund, 103 Regency Place, West Monroe, LA 71291.
