Funeral services for Mr. Richard Smith, 83, of Farmerville, LA will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Farmerville, LA. Officiating will be Father Adrian Fischer. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 14, 2016 from 5:00 P.M to 8:00 P.M. at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Farmerville. Interment will follow in Liberty Cemetery in Farmerville under direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Farmerville.  Richard was born on August 21, 1932 in Marion, LA, and passed away on June 12, 2016 at his residence in Farmerville. Mr. Smith was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. He won an award for Older Worker of the year (Council on Aging). He also enjoyed gardening, taking his boys fishing, hunting, and camping. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Henry Smith and Annie Smith, sister, Dorothy Glenn /spouse: Loy Glenn, sister: Bernice Reeves, brother: Harvey Smith and son Steve Smith. Survivors include his wife Jean Smith of 59 years, son Ricky Smith and wife Bonnie of West Monroe, LA; daughter-in-law , Sheila Smith, wife of Steve Smith of Holly Ridge; Grandchildren, Ian Smith, Stephen Smith, Kelli Strack, and Lindsey Smith, Step-granddaughter, April King. Great- Grandchildren: Abby Gail, Allie Grace, Maddox, and Bennett, Step-great-grandchildren, Lela, Ava, and Xander, special friends: Keith Kenly, Billy Platt, Colleen Parker, Debby Duty, Emma Jean Mason and Sammie Smith: Sisters/Brothers/ In-Laws, Francis Whitner, Betty and Ivan McKenney, and Delma Reeves: with Special Relative Paula Bilberry.  Special thanks to the Doctors and Nurses of Union General Hospital and his home health nurse, Melissa Parker. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Farmerville. Pallbearers will be Ian Smith, Sam Strack, Josh Whitner, Milas Joe Davidson, Steve Barmore, Paul Book, John Glenn and Stan Harrison. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.kilpatrickfuneralhomes.comKilpatrick Funeral HomeFarmerville, LA.
