Rev. Dayton A. Doughty Kilpatrick Funeral Home Ruston, LA Funeral services for Rev. Dayton A. Doughty, age 86, of Ruston will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Temple Baptist Church Sanctuary in Ruston. Officiating the service will be Dr. Rick Byargeon, Rev. Dale Oden and Rev Barry Joyner. Interment will be at Unionville Cemetery Colvin Memorial near Dubach, LA. under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. Rev. Doughty was a member of Temple Baptist Church. He pastored First Baptist Church in Dubach, LA for twenty years, Rocky Springs Baptist Church in Lisbon, LA for eleven years and numerous other churches in Louisiana over his seventy years tenure as a Baptist Minister. Rev. Doughty served in the United States Navy and was a Veteran of WWII. He was a graduate of Louisiana College and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and was a member of the VFW and Council on Aging. He is preceded in death by his first wife of 54 years, Annebelle Doughty. He is survived by wife: Susie S. Doughty of Ruston, LA; daughter: Zilla Cone and husband Pat of Choudrant, LA; sons: Len Doughty and wife Dianne of Shreveport, LA and Jason Doughty and wife Jodi of Houston, TX; step-children: Charles Stokes and wife Carolyn of Ruston, LA and Mary Jane Walker of Shreveport; LA; grandchildren: Patrick Cone, Jamison Cone, Robert Cone, Samantha Cone, Kelly Doughty, Cameron Doughty, and Roane Doughty; step- grandchildren: Brian Walker and wife Misty, and Jason Walker; three step-great grandchildren: Will, Luke, and Anney Walker; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Woody Cooper, and James Edward Scriber. Honorary Pallbearers will be Don Gay, Bernie Johnson, Johnny Mitchell, Billy Rich, Tommy Windsor and Brooks Bryant, the Lynn Hawkins Sunday School Class and the Members of the Ruston, VFW. The family sends a special thanks to Dr. Tommy Smith and Hospice of Caring Hearts. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Baptist Children's Home, Temple Baptist Church, or Rolling Hills Ministry Building Fund.
