Rev. Damon Duane Heinrich passed away in Monroe, Louisiana on March 3, 2024, at the age of 85. He was born on September 11, 1938 in Boise, Idaho and raised near McCall, Idaho. He graduated as valedictorian from Donnelly-McCall High School, and he earned a bachelor’s degree from George Fox College, Newberg, Oregon in 1960, and a Master’s of Divinity from Western Evangelical Seminary in1966.
A man of immense curiosity and countless interests, Pastor Damon had a heart for people and a lifelong desire to serve Christ. During 60 years of ministry, he was a dedicated pastor in churches in Idaho, Oregon, Colorado, Louisiana, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina, as part of the Friends, Free Methodist, and Southern Methodist denominations.
Pastor Damon was also a writer for the Light and Life Hour radio program for the Free Methodist Church, an instructor and administrator at Southern Methodist College in Orangeburg, SC, and Vice President for the Southwestern Conference of the Southern Methodist Church serving on numerous boards and committees. Damon was predeceased by his loving wife of 55 years Sally Ann Meyer Heinrich. He is survived by his brother Vaughn Heinrich and sister Lynette Fountain,his sons and daughters-in-law, Dwight and Anne Heinrich and Brent Heinrich and Ruifen Liu; daughter and son-in-law Lori and Norman Williams; five grandsons, Reid Heinrich and his wife Teresa, Aaron Heinrich and his wife Jess, Travis Heinrich, Spencer Williams and Alexander Williams; numerous nieces and nephews; and many beloved friends and co-workers in Christ.
A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America or a charity of your choice.
