Rebecca Anne Joiner was born January 4, 1961, in Greenville, Mississippi, to parents Luzon Joiner, Jr. and Rebel Albritton Joiner. She died January 19, 2024, at her residence in West Monroe, Louisiana.
Her early childhood was spent in Greenville, Mississippi, and Monroe, Louisiana, where she attended elementary and secondary schools, graduating from Ouachita Parish High School in 1979. She attended the University of Louisiana at Monroe and graduated in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a concentration in Interior Design. She was a member of the Warbonnets Dance and Drill Team and of Phi Mu sorority. Rebecca was a lifelong member of Parkview Baptist Church of Monroe, Louisiana.
After college graduation, Rebecca moved to Dallas and then to Houston, Texas, where she worked in interior design and decided to further her education in the field of law. She received her Juris Doctorate in 1993 from South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas. Rebecca chose a career in management at Barnes &Noble Book Sellers in Houston, where she worked for many years.
In 2010, she returned to Monroe to assist in the care of her parents. After their deaths in 2011 and 2012, Rebecca relocated to West Monroe.
Rebecca was a lifelong antique collector, specializing in English chintz ware and period silhouettes. She followed current trends in interior design throughout her life. A lifelong reader, she was a go-to source for literary best sellers and reference materials in many areas of study. She was a valued member of a local book club, Random Houses Book Club.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Luzon Joiner, Jr. and Rebel Albritton Joiner, of Monroe, Louisiana. Survivors include her brothers, Larry W. Joiner of Canton, Mississippi, and R. Keith Joiner of Lake Charles, Louisiana. Nieces are Ashley Joiner Smith of Madison, Mississippi, and Amanda Joiner Saltzman of Lake Charles, Louisiana. Her nephew Grant Joiner resides in Memphis, Tennessee.
The Celebration of Life service will be lead by Reverend Terry Barnes at Parkview Baptist Church, 1001 Forsythe Avenue, Monroe, Louisiana at 1:00PM, Saturday, February 17, 2024. Music will be provided by Lanny and Cherie Turner. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Parkview Baptist Church. Visitation will follow the service.
