A funeral mass celebrating the life for Raymond Earl Clary, Jr. will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Monroe. Interment will follow at Kilpatrick’s Serenity Gardens in West Monroe. Services are under the direction and care of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes of Monroe.

Raymond Earl Clary Jr. was born in Luling, LA on September 27, 1966 and died on August 17, 2021 at the age of 54. To know Raymond (or Ray as many called him) WAS to love him. He never met a stranger and always found a way to make others laugh. Raymond was a bright spot in his parent’s lives and the lives of all of his family and friends. Claire, his wife of 28 years, was his one true love. Their son, Alex, brought him immense joy and he would quickly tell you how proud he was to be his dad.

He was preceded in death by grandparents; Marilyn and Bill Bridges, Claudie and Marion Clary, Rube Watson and Iva Mae Dutton; father in laws, John Salley and Larry “Papa Sac” Stephan. Raymond is survived by his parents, Raymond Earl Clary, Sr and Barbara Bridges Clary; wife, Katherine Claire Clary; son, Stephan Alexander Clary; mother-in-law, Glenda Salley; sister, Jennifer Clary Nawas and her husband, Wally; brother, Gifford Peyton Clary and his wife, Lisa; sister in law, Susannah Salley Parks and her husband, Josh; brother in law, John Lambert; numerous nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Ray Ray; and his beloved canine companion, his chocolate lab, Molly. Raymond, a member of Jesus the Good Shepherd Church, was very involved in the ACTS retreats as well as the Knights of Columbus. A born leader, he led with compassion and concern for others, never being one to take credit but rather readily giving credit to others.

Raymond, Claire, and Alex spent 15 years in South Florida where they made life-long friends. They then moved back to Monroe and have resided here for the past 11 years. Although much shorter than we all hoped it would be, Raymond lived a full life and had so many people who loved him. The outpouring of love we have felt has been overwhelming, reiterating to us how important and loved Raymond was by others. Friends and family describe him as a light, someone who always made those around him feel special, a person who filled the room with good air…these are just a few examples. Maya Angelou once said, “if you are going to live, leave a legacy. Make a mark on the world that cannot be erased.” In his 54 years on earth, he made his mark, truly making a difference in the lives of all who knew him.

There were two charitable donations that were near and dear to Raymond’s heart: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and The Knights of Columbus Council #1337. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Raymond’s memory to either of these charities.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Friday, August 20, 2021 at Kilpatrick Funeral Homes of Monroe. Rosary will begin at 7:00 P.M.

I am so, so very sorry to hear of Ray's passing this morning. Ray came by my home in Ruston a few times to give me estimates for a pool and spoke highly of his family and how much he loved all of you. He sent me his writings to look over for feedback. Very talented writer. My love, prayers, and condolences to your family. He was truly a bright light.

I am saddened to hear of Raymond's passing. I haven't seen him in many years, but we were neighbors in our childhood and played together often. The Clary family(ies) are in my prayers.

Hello, I was so sorry to hear about Ray's passing. He installed a pool for us 5 years ago and in the few short weeks that whole process took, we came to think of Ray as a friend. He was always smiling and never failed to make us laugh with his quit wit and good sense of humor. We pray that God will bless your family during this time and fill you with joy and healing. I was heartbroken to hear the news of Raymond's passing. He and I went to high school together and I have memories of his smile and kindness. He was one of those people who was loved by all. Please accept my condolences.

We were great friends with Ray, Claire, and Alex during their short few years in Gulf Breeze Florida. We met them at a park when Alex and our Allison were youngsters. We loved them and spent a lot of time together then. It was a significant time in our lives. Ray took me fishing a few times and I caught my first King Mackeral on his boat. When we visited them in Cape Coral, he boldly walked up to a Red Sox baseball player, chatted with him, and brought my son, Bradley, back a Beer Coaster from Mike Lowell :-) Ray was so much fun to be around and we have always adored Claire. I just found out about this last nite as we were taking our youngest back to college, otherwise we would be there today with you all. Claire and Alex we love you. And we loved Ray. Peace and Love, from the Proctors (Tim, Maureen, Allison, Bradley, and Mallory)

We all loved Ray! He was a devoted husband and father. Words cannot Express the profound loss, this is, too all of us, that loved him.

Dear Babs and Hoss and all the Clary family, Raymond was always such a joy to be around, even as a small child. We can't imagine the pain you're all feeling, and we know that no words can assuage that. We do believe, though, that ultimately that the pain will lessen, and you'll be able to rejoice in the precious son and loving husband father Raymond was. You'll find joy in remembering how he brightened lives all around him, especially yours, and you'll realize that right now there's a party going on in Heaven with Raymond Clary leading the conga line.

I want to convey my deepest sympathy to the Clary family. Ray was one of a nicest and most considerate people that I have ever met. He was always willing to do whatever he could to address any needs or concerns we had around the office. He was a generous and compassionate person that always greeted you with an infectious smile. Ray will be greatly missed.

Babs and Raymond, Claire and Alex, and all of Ray's family, my deepest condolences. Please know that all of you have been in my prayers for comforting directly by the Holy Spirit and indirectly through the prayers and other outreach of all those with whom God has intertwined your lives.
