Sorry to hear of the passing of one of our fellow Uarkettes of the late '60's!!
Lawrence Thomas left a message on April 20, 2013:
I remember many happy times spent with Penny at the University of Arkansas. We were both in the Uarkettes together and sang opposite each other in several operas including "The Marriage of Figaro", "The Gondoliers", and on tour with "The Old Maid & the Thief". I will always remember Penny as a very special friend with a beautiful voice.

I met Penny many years ago through the cat fancy. Although she has always been associated with her beautiful Siamese she also had Norwegian Forest Cats until their size became too much for her. I always looked forward to seeing her at shows and appreciated her judging at the shows. She will be missed by all whose lives she has touched

My husband, Max Lovett, and I first met Penny and her husband and mother in 1988. She helped us to begin showing cats. We spent many weekends enjoying supper at The Warehouse in Monroe when we weren't showing cats. When we built our new home, she gave us a beautiful Thomas Kincaid painting. After my husband died in 2009, I lost track of Penny. She was a wonderful lady and a precious friend who will be missed by all. To her family, I would just say remember her and treasure her memories in your hearts.

My cousin Penny was 16 months older than me, so we spent lots of time together as children, especially during holiday times. I have many memories of Penny, Aunt Aggie, and Aunt Edna. I am so sorry for her loss, and am praying for her friends and other family at this time.

My sincere condolences to Penny's friends and family, with special thanks to Pat Muise, who handled all the arrangements so well during what must have been a sudden, unexpected situation. As Penny's cousin, I was terribly saddened to learn of her death. My deepest sympathies to all who knew and loved Penny.

Her quiet dignity and musical talent were qualities that I loved in Penny. When I later learned about her love of cats, that deepened my appreciation of this wonderful person. We had some nice conversations at our last reunion and she will always be remembered as one of the really nice people I knew growing up in El Dorado.

John and Penny were dear friends for many years. They are together now in Heaven. She possessed a great alto voice in her day that was only rarely heard. Her love for all things related to cats is well known. I am honored to have know her. LG
