Memorial services for Dr. Paul F. Geiger, 73, of Mobile, AL, will be at 10:00AM, Wednesday, June 7, 2006, in the Chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home on Lamy Lane with Don Glover officiating. Dr. Geiger, a retired Professor of Pharmacology at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, was born July 12, 1932, in Meadville, PA, and died May 31, 2006, in Mobile, AL. He graduated in 1950 from Meadville High School and then briefly attended Temple University. He entered the University of Texas at Austin in 1953 where he was awarded a B.A. in Biology, a B.S. in Pharmacy, a M.S. in Pharmacy, and was ultimately awarded a PhD in Pharmacology in 1967. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Geiger and Josephine Kulczycke Geiger; sister; Dorothy Lewis; father-in-law, Rayburn Smith; and mother-in-law, Lillian Hill Smith. Dr. Geiger, a registered pharmacist, taught in the Schools of Pharmacy at the University of Texas at Austin, and at the University of Louisiana at Monroe and retired in 1997. He was a member of numerous professional organizations. He had received many grants and published numerous papers for scientific and general journals based on many years of thorough research. He gave presentations to both lay and professional groups in drugs of abuse, drug interactions, and drug related topics. He enjoyed music and the arts but was particularly fond of any sporting event involving the Texas Longhorns. Dr. Geiger is survived by his sons, Greg Geiger and wife Melissa of Monroe, and Lieutenant Commander Sam Geiger and wife Jana of Fayetteville, NC; his beloved wife Brenda Smith Geiger of Mobile, AL; brother, Fred Geiger and wife Mary of Austin, TX; granddaughters, Jenna Geiger of Monroe, and Mallorie and Madison Geiger of Fayetteville, NC; brother-in-law, Jerry Smith and wife Pam of San Antonio, TX; nieces, Kathy Geiger, Laura Krupicka, and Taryn Smith; nephews, Steve Geiger, and Paul and David Lewis; and his special friend, a cat named Coco credited with once saving his life. Visitation will be from 5:00PM until 8:00PM, Tuesday, June 6, 2006, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, Lamy Lane, Monroe, LA.
