Paul David Butler passed away at his home, he was 78 years old. Known to everyone as Pete, he enjoyed many hobbies throughout his lifetime including motocross racing, fishing, golf, and cross-country road trips with his motorcycle buddies and pool sharks. He was a heavy equipment operator and a certified SCUBA diver. Pete had a soft spot for animals, loved to boat, and always had a funny and interesting story to share.
Pete grew up on Riverbend Drive, West Monroe, Louisiana until joining the Air Force and moving to Lubbock, Texas. In the fall of 1967, he married Barbara Odom and they lived in their hometown of West Monroe; they have two daughters: Ashley and Dusty. The family of four moved to Houma, LA in 1974 where Pete worked in the oil industry. Always up for adventure, Pete moved his family from Houma to Leesburg, Florida in 1986. He and Barbara returned to West Monroe in 1991; they resided there until returning to Florida in 2013 to be close to their children and grandchildren.
Since returning to Leesburg, Pete and Barbara were members of Amvets and Eagles. Pete made friends easily, he and Barbara enjoyed cooking for group gatherings and spending time with family.
Paul was preceded in death by his mother, Evelyn Jean Corry and his father Reginald Howard Butler, Pete lived a full life. He leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Barbara and two daughters Ashley Nicole Clark of Leesburg, Florida and Dusty Michele Parker of Cocoa, Florida and three grandchildren Ryan Clark, Bradley Clark, and Grace Ann Parker. Pete is survived by two sisters Linda Butler Wolf and Debbie Butler Usie and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Ryan Clark, Bradley Clark, Ross Parker, Craig Gentry, Paul Hebert and Ed Hoff.
