Paris Louis Soulier, born September 13, 1963, in Monroe, LA, the only child of Louis Soulier and Carla Beth Soulier (later married to Jim Conerly), passed away Sunday, November 26, 2023 at the age of 60. He is survived by his wife Lela Pritchard Soulier, and cousins Herschel and John Paul Roane of Arlington, Texas, and stepbrother Marc Conerly, son of Jim Conerly, the second husband of Paris’ mother.
Paris graduated from ULM (previously NLU), went on to graduate and then teach at the University of North Texas, where he also met his future wife, Lela. He earned a Ph.D. in Statistics, majored in Accounting, and taught Statistics at UNT. He later taught at business schools and was very popular with students, as he spoke in plain English and was generous in supporting students calmly and patiently.
In 2010, Paris and Lela moved back to Monroe after the death of his stepfather, Jim. Paris found a job with Advantage Staffing in their Monroe office, but later moved to an Advantage Staffing office in Charlotte, NC. That office closed two years later, and Paris was transferred back to a Monroe staffing center. His mother Carla had been in hospital care and passed away in 2014.
Until Paris started working at Advantage Staffing, he’d never had to depend on the accounting skills he’d majored in. He was thrilled to be able to use those skills in meaningful work getting good talent into good jobs. He loved the teams he worked with.
Lela thanks the Laffoon family of Monroe for their friendship and support over five generations.
