Graveside services for Mr. Oscar J. Parker JR, age 85, of West Monroe will be held at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at Monroe Memorial Park. Mr. Parker?s brother, Dr. Robert Parker will be officiating, under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home.Mr. Parker was born April 5, 1922 in Sherman, TX, and died February 23, 2008 in West Monroe. O.J. grew up in Sterlington, LA, and was educated in Ouachita Parish and attended Louisiana Tech University before serving in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. After leaving the service he worked for Louisiana Power and Light until 1984.Mr. Parker is survived by his wife of 65 years, Margaret Moore Parker; brother, Dr. Robert Earl Parker and wife Ruthie Wilkinson Parker; nephew, Bob Parker and wife Anna Robinson Parker; nieces, Becky Parker Seal and husband Bing Seal and Patti Williams; three special friends, Travis Jones, Gloria Whitman and Billie Green.The family will receive guests at Kilpatrick Funeral Home-West Monroe from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 25, 2008.Online condolences may be sent to www.kilpatrickfuneralhomes.com

I certainly have fond memories of all the times I spent with both you and "Uncle O".  I remember his patience, kindness, and quiet humor.  We certainly had a lot of fun.I've thought of you often and regret that I did not call.  My prayers are with you as you face the days ahead.  66 years is a long time!I moved back to Crowville to take care of Mother and found a new life.  I've taught first and second grade at Winnsboro, had cancer in my 4th year of remission, and retired.  In 2006, after nearly 18 months of chemotherapy, I became and 8th grade ELA teacher at Crowville.
