Funeral services for Opal Elizabeth Davis Bauer, of Monroe, will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, September 12, 2011, in the Parkview Baptist Church Chapel, with Reverend Gabe Krell officiating. Interment will follow in the Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be at 10:00 AM in the Chapel prior to the funeral service. Mrs. Bauer a retired teacher in the Ouachita Parish School System, was born September 12, 1917, and passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2011, at Avalon Place. She was preceded in death by her grandson, David. Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Paul Bauer, her children, Paula Webb and Karen McDowell, her grandchildren, Katherine Webb and Emily Webb, and sister, Rowena Larsen. She was a member of Parkview Baptist Church and numerous civic and genealogical societies including the Daughters of the American Revolution and the National Society Magna Charta Dames. Pallbearers will be Dan Brian, Jereme Grant, Josh Grant, Curt Kennedy, and John Kennedy. Memorials may be made to Parkview Baptist Church or the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home. With appreciation to members of the David Byrd Bible Study Class; Dr. Gregory Green and staff, the staff of Avalon Place, especially Joyce Johnson and KeAria Rabun; and the Hospice of Caring Hearts.
