Noel Yvonne Hatton Tramontana, 85, passed away peacefully on June 7 in Monroe, LA after a brief illness.
Born in Winnsboro, she was a 1957 graduate of Charity Hospital School of Nursing in New Orleans, where she earned her registered nursing degree. She was a beloved daughter, wife, mother and grandmother.
Her true love was writing and in her 50s and 60s, she authored two novels based on her childhood, wrote dozens of magazine articles, published several works of poetry, and earned a Creative Writing Award in 1985. She was an avid reader, an excellent cook, a fan of country music, and a devout Catholic who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was passionate about English Sheepdogs and dearly loved her 10-year-old dog Lucky, who rarely left her side in her final days.
Ms. Tramontana was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Dr. Jorge Antonio Tramontana, her parents Lonnie Roosevelt Hatton and Lola Dale Forman Hatton, her sister Juanita Hatton Mercer and brother Lonnie Roosevelt Hatton Jr. She is survived by her children—Lisa Tramontana of Baton Rouge, LA; Jane Vallat of Charlotte, NC; Karen Tramontana and husband Tim Walsh of New Orleans; Tony Tramontana and wife Kathy of Monroe, LA; Patti Tramontana and husband David Gribbin of Swainsboro, GA; Michael Tramontana of Atlanta, GA; and David Tramontana and wife Amanda of Atlanta, GA. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren—Alex Kleinpeter and wife Cathy Sung; Daniel Kleinpeter and Victoria Kleinpeter; Christian Vallatt and Nicolette Vallat; Camille Walsh-Weibel and husband Matt Weibel, Amelia Walsh, Devon Walsh and wife Emily; Brandon Tramontana, Gabrielle Tramontana, Elise Tramontana; Rhys Gribbin, and Rhianna Gribbin; VaidaTrepsas and Arya Tramontana; Nora Tramontana and Trevor Tramontana.
A funeral Mass will take place at Jesus the Good Shepherd Church in Monroe on Saturday, June 11 at 10 a.m. (A rosary will be said at 9 a.m.). Ms. Tramontana will be laid to rest in Sandy Springs, GA with her late husband.
